Updated 06/09/24 04:42 PM -0400 This is a photo journey of my first observing adventure with the SeeStar S50 all-in-one telescope/camera. All images were taken with this scope unless otherwise noted. The Seestar S50 has a 50mm aperture, 240mm FL, and an IMX462 sensor. This gives a FOV of 0.73° x 1.29°. It has an alt-az mount so images are typically oriented zenith up. All but two of the images were taken at Deerlick Astronomy Village (DAV) in Crawfordville GA, 33.553879, -82.761069. The other locations were Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (CEWC) in Mansfield GA and my home in Atlanta GA near Mercer University (ATL). All times are local. Images are listed in seasonal groups by R.A. Navigation links to the sub-pages are at the top corners of each page. Two images are included for each target: first is the initial framing shot with targets labeled (or as substitutes, a plate solve from nova.astrometry.net or a labeled screenshot from SkySafari). The second is an unlabeled image with slightly longer exposure - this is the "prettier one". All Seestar images were jpg shots saved to my phone that were downloaded and briefly processed with (1) an auto denoise inTopaz and (2) a curves & HDR tweak in Photoshop CS5 or Siril. For a few large FOV targets, Microsoft I.C.E was used to make a mosaic from multiple frames. |
