Well, the Dread Month of December nearly here, and we
have two big events planned and an invitation. Since some of our
well-loved and far-away college girls might want to join us, I’m copying all of
you. Adult Girl Scouts will not need a permission slip, but I will need to
know if you plan to come. Let me know ASAP.
The Empty Stocking
Fund
December 15 we will be picked up right after school to
volunteer at City Hall East for the Empty Stocking Fund and then have pizza at
Camelli’s Pizza which is in the strip mall with the Kroger one block east on
Ponce de Leon from City Hall East. Remember that the spending limit for
Secret Santas is $10 and that Pat knows who your Secret Santa is if you
don’t. We will hold our Court of Awards at Camelli’s, so if you’ve
finished something, please let Pat know to pick up the patch or pin. Your
trusty advisors will bring you home afterwards unless your parents or siblings
join us at Camelli’s. We will need your permission
form filled out and brought with you on December 15 or delivered to one of the
trusty advisors before then. (College persons can do
Secret Santa if you’d like. Let me know, and I’ll work it out for
you.)
Everyone was emailed the Santa’s Village information packet,
and you will notice a couple of things. They like to know where their
volunteers come from, so please wear a Girl Scout shirt if you can.
Remember that you don’t have to wear it to school, just bring it with your
Secret Santa. If you want, you can drop off Secret Santa gifts and Girl
Scout shirts at the Callaways’ on Thursday. I will need to give Lisa Smyrl
a head count so that she can make nametags for us. I can change the list,
but right now I’m counting on 6 girls, three leaders (Callaway, Lott, Law) and
probably three collegians (I’m guessing Evie, Anne, and Diana,
since you came last year). Let me know. Mrs. Unger has invited us to
the reason why she can’t come. See below.
Red Cross Community
First Aid
December 22 we will get ourselves certified in Red Cross Community First Aid. The list right now stands at 6 girls, and 4 leaders (Callaway, Lott, Gargiullo, and Law). If parents or graduated girls want to join us, we’ll be glad to have you. Mr. Callaway needs a head count by Monday, December
18, because he has to pick up materials from the Red Cross. Please be sure
we know what you want to do.
An Invitation from the
Ungers
The Acting Ungers have stepped it up a notch. Bob
Unger is organizing Theatre Works, a "family" oriented volunteer theatre
group. They will be presenting
The Homecoming, a stage play based on the novel on which the movie "Spencer's Mountain" and the television series "The Waltons" were based. Mrs. Unger will again be one of a pair of sisters who make spirits, the famous "recipe". If you would like to attend with your families, Mrs. Unger has negotiated special discounts with the producer. The play will run Thursday evening through Sunday, December 14-17. The Saturday and Sunday performances are matinees. Please get in touch with the Ungers if you would like to
come.
