Carnival of Caring
|
PRESENTING TROOPS: We need troops willing to run the Carnival sideshows, for example, Troop 6828 is manning the "Carnival Mask Making" table. Your troop should choose something related to the "Carnival" theme, such as Face Painting, Cake Walk or a game, then register with Cathy Northrop (below) with your idea so that we don't have any duplications. We will also need to know if you will need tables and whether any of the girls manning your sideshow will be taking turns tying out the other activities (they will need tickets). Your troop will then prepare enough supplies as needed - we will let you know the total number of girls participating by November 1st. Presenting Troops should arrive by 6:30 pm to set up their area.
VISITING TROOPS: These troops will attend to enjoy the activities that the Presenting Troops have prepared and should register by November 1st with Cathy Northrop (below) to let us know the total number of girls attending.
DEEDS OF CARING: All girls attending should tell their family and family friends that they are participating in a Community Service Event called the "Carnival of Caring" to raise money for the American Red Cross. (Due to the hurricanes, Girl Scouts are allowed, at this time, to raise money for other organizations.) To make the event more meaningful for the girls, we are asking that each girl do a "Deed of Caring" to earn a donation of money to bring to the event - such as helping a family member, raking leaves, or anything worthwhile. Each girl should write down on the index card we will provide what she did to earn the donation and then put the card together with the cash in a sealed envelope to bring to the event. We will have a container to put them in near the entrance. After the event, Troop 6828 will organize the cards together with information and photos of the event into a scrapbook which they will present to the Council Resource Center.
TICKETS: Each girl attending will receive a ticket for each sideshow (if there are 8 sideshows, she will get 8 tickets) and they can be visited in any order.
INDEX CARDS & TICKETS will be ready to pick-up at the November Service Unit meeting.
