Mandatory training for troops planning an overnight experience with their girls using indoor facilities (hotels, cabins, lodges, etc.). This is the first instructor-led class and the third class in the sequence of 5 core classes required for troop camper certification.

Two Prerequisites: Trips and Overnights AND Camping Registration - register for each of these two online classes using LARC.
Handouts, Guide for Camping & Outdoor Education books, other teaching supplies.

Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, a camp chair for comfort, a hard or electronic copy of Volunteer Essentials, a sit-upon or garden kneeling pad (you will be putting one knee on the ground) and, if you have long hair, a bandanna or rubber band to tie it back away from your face.

Also bring a small plastic grocery bag filled with

  • tinder (twigs from your yard that are ranging in size of pencil lead to size of your forefinger) and
  • kindling (large pieces of wood from the size of your forefinger to 2 inches in diameter) so you can practice fire building skills.
