Create Dorothy’s DIY fabric garland that would make the Wizard of Oz proud. It is really simple to make and it adds so much color to any room. Participants will select own fabric and colors.
This is a great project to add to a mantel, or for a teacher gift, to a baby or child’s room to use for decoration at a party. Perfect for a doorway or over a bed. Great for decor at a graduation party with the colors of the graduate. Great project to teach to girls at all levels. Coordinates with the Senior's Room Make Over badge or Outdoor Art projects. |
Complete project instructions, Extra twine, Extra fabric and ribbons, links to project examples, extra scissors, cutting mat and rotary cutter, tape measure, measuring tape, painters tape. |
• Coordinating fabrics – I used 7 different fabrics, fat quarters (18”x 22”) would work perfectly for this project. Your choice for fabrics could be Boho Chic, Farmhouse Buffalo Check, or Shabby
Chic, or Rainbow colors. Note: Could also use one yard each of 4-6 of your favorite fabrics (be sure to check the remnants section of your fabric store for a big discount). These would need to be cut or torn to fit.
• Twine or string to hang (Measure window or mantle and allow for droop and hanging. Make a lot longer than needed, can trim it afterwards) Note: Can also use a tension rod to hang in doorway or in window. • Command hooks to hang • Optional: Burlap roll (optional) or ribbons for accents |
Completed banner or accent valance in your choice of décor. This could also be a holiday banner for your doorway or mantle to celebrate Valentine's day, St. Patrick's Day or Fourth of July. |
